Corrin Grooms, Artist
Corrin Grooms was born in Atlanta, GA, in September 1993 and relocated to Detroit, MI. Corrin's mother created a home environment that was heavily influenced by art, dance and music. At an early age she showed a passion for drawing. By age 8 she was enrolled in Continuing Education courses at the College for Creative Studies (CCS) in Detroit. She continued to take art courses throughout elementary and middle school along with learning to play the violin. In 2007, Corrin was accepted to the Detroit School Of Arts, where she majored in both Orchestra and Visual Arts. During her high school career she chose to focus solely on art in school and continued to play the violin in her local community orchestra and private lessons at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
In the Summer of 2010, Corrin was granted a high school internship at Pewabic Pottery in Detroit, where she assisted in workshops and elementary art classes. She became a contracted instructor through Pewabic Pottery's community outreach program from 2011-2013.
After taking a brief hiatus from art, Corrin enrolled the Art Program at Saginaw Valley State University and began to perfect her craft. While attending SVSU, Corrin was featured in 3 exhibits. She graduated May 2018 with a B.A. Art and a minor in Graphic Design.
